East Liberty Transit Center (work completed at Sasaki*)

Project Description:
East Liberty Station is located along the MLK Jr. Busway, a major bus rapid transit system connecting the east end neighborhoods of Pittsburgh to the downtown core. This project reconfigured the bus platforms, walkways, and a new public realm for better access, gathering, and arrival sequence. Much of this work was conceived as a new plaza that would link the different programs as a bridge along Penn Ave above the Busway. Improved connections to the adjacent redevelopment build upon the new sense of place at the core of a changing neighborhood.
